Patients on long-term medication can order repeat prescriptions in a number of ways:

• Online: via the link at the top of this page. Please note you will need to register online to use this service 
• By Telephone: Please ring 01706 335360 and select option 2.
• In Person: By completing the printed slip attached to your previous prescription and leaving in the prescription box in the waiting room or post it to us.

All medication requests take up to two working days to be processed. Please put your requests in with plenty of time to avoid delays in continuing to take your medication.

If you would like your prescription to be collected by a pharmacy and / or delivered to your home, please contact your preferred pharmacy to arrange this.

Help with NHS costs

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:

• those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
• those who are age exempt
• those with certain medical conditions
• More information is available at NHS Choices

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

• Prescription (per item): £9.65
• 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £111.60
• 3-month PPC: £31.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

As a result of local and national strategies please be aware that we will be limiting prescriptions of Over The Counter (OTC) medicines for minor ailments.

This means that instead of receiving prescriptions for short term conditions (e.g. for paracetamol or ibuprofen), patients will be encouraged to self care and buy these from their own local Pharmacy or Supermarket.

• There are no plans to limit Over The Counter (OTC) medicines for people with long-term health conditions.
